Whether you’re going to another country, another state, or even to your friends house: these are the 8 sustainable must haves that are useful in both your daily life and while traveling!

When traveling, it is best to leave no trace wherever you are going and that includes the waste you bring with you, so be mindful and get some of these must have travel essentials so you can not only save the planet, but save money too!

1. REUSABLE WATER-BOTTLE

You can save so much money by bringing a water-bottle through an airport. You will not have to pay for the overpriced water at airports or gas stations and you can just refill yours for free! Plus it helps reduce single-use plastics as well, its a win win.

2. REUSABLE UTENSILS

THIS IS THE MOST ESSENTIAL THING TO BRING WHILE TRAVELING OE EVERYDAY LIFE! There are so many times were I used them it’s really an essential for everyday life. Just stick some utensils in your purse or travel bag and whenever you eat out just use the ones you have! You reduce so much on single use plastic and it definitely comes in handy if you are eating fruit on the side of the road.

3. REUSABLE STRAW

Most resturants or food places offer the drink with the plastic cup already, so be sure to say no straw after you order and pull your handy dandy straw on a keychain out!

I usually just go with no straw, but if i really need it I will use the steel straw thats on my keychain.

4. BAMBOO TOOTHBRUSH & PLASTIC FREE TOOTHPASTE

Dentists say you’re supposed to switch out your toothbrush every 3-4 months. After traveling, many will probably throw their toothbrushes out anyway, so instead of grabbing a plastic one, just switch to bamboo! It’s a simple yet effective way to keep plastic out of our oceans and reduce waste in the world.

5. REUSABLE RAZOR

Okay I seriously did not know the power of a reusable razor until I finally got one. THIS IS A MUST! Instead of hairs getting stuck in your blade and having to clean it out every second the blade of the reusable is much easier and gets right to the point. Its all around just a better experience – the blades last longer, hair doesn’t get stuck in the razor and you reduce plastic as well… just saying 🤷‍♀️

(it did take me a minute to figure out how to put in the blade but its seriously so much better!!)

6. PLASTIC FREE DEODORANT

Another simple way to reduce your plastic while traveling is getting deodorant that is plastic free. Most plastic free deodorants are actually better and cleaner for you too (natural, aluminum free, cruelty free) since these companies focus more on people and the planet than profit.

7. REUSABLE BAG

Bringing a reusable bag is super convenient since its so multi-use, it works as a grocery bag, beach bag, and even a carry on. I have one that fold into the size of my hand and I always keep it handy when I am going to a local store or I just go with no bag and just carry it in my hands.

8. PLASTIC FREE SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER BARS

Skip the unnecessary plastic use already and get yourself some plastic free hair care. They take about the same amount of space in your bag as other toiletries and will last longer than using those mini bottles. My favorite has been my SuperZero bars!

I am currently using the Hydration & Strengthening bars (for frizzy / dry / damaged hair)since I have been swimming in the ocean so much lately and as a gal with long hair I have definitely felt a difference after I started using it!
