I am not the most financially savvy person but I have found these are the best and easiest ways to earn cash back and save money on your upcoming travels.

TRAVEL CREDIT CARDS
This is the one thing you should have if you are really serious about traveling. Getting a travel credit card is the easiest way to save money and get cash back on your purchases. With some even offering additional rewards when you sign up and spend a certain amount, you can easily utilize this card for all your gas and grocery purchases but to be honest, I use it for as much as I can so I can build up my points. Make sure to get one that has zero foregin transaction fees so you can use it anywhere around the world.
RABUKUTEN & SWAGBUCKS
These two websites are great ways to get double the cash back on your online purchases- you can get points for your purchase with your travel credit card and also get cash back through these websites. You can go through their website or add their extensions to your browsers so it automatically gives you cash back when you purchase through certain sites. Some websites have a higher cash back, but getting any money back is better than none at all! It can give you cash back on your online shopping, hotel bookings, airline tickets, rental cars, etc., just browse the site for your favorite online sites!
Join Rakuten here & Swagbucks here!
STUDENT DISCOUNTS
If you are a student or still have possession of your student ID then this is a great way to save some extra bucks on tourist attractions and even flights. It’ll shave a couple bucks off your excursion so always make sure to ask if there are any discounts available!
HIGH APY SAVINGS ACCOUNT
While you’re stashing some money away for your upcoming trip, make sure you’re using a savings account with a high annual percentage yield (APY) to get the most out of your savings. I didn’t really know what this meant at first, but basically the higher the APY the higher the interest you get which leads to more money in your account. Just by switching to another bank account I have gained $15 dollars of interest over the last several months.
FREQUENT FLYER PROGRAMS
By joining frequent flyer programs you can easily earn points towards upgrades and free flights. It may take some time to build these points up but it is better than not having any at all, so start now. Just as you would regularly buy your flights, you enter your frequent flyer number as your checking out so it qualifies for points to use for future deals. You can also enter in past flights if you recently traveled and didn’t have a frequent flyer number before.
DEBIT CARDS WITH NO ATM FEES
If you don’t want to start building your credit just yet, or need a card to take cash out of, getting a debit card with no ATM fees is the way to go.
- Aspiration: earn up to 1.00% APY on your save account, 55,000 free in-network ATMs, carbon offsets for all your gas purchases, and even earn 10% cash back at mission based merchants like TOMS and more
- Charles Schwab: best recommended travel credit card because it has 0 ATM fees all over the world
